All the listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations may be required.

Today: A PPC Pistol Shoot will be held at Pinetucky Gun Club at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $4 for members and $12 for non-members. For details, call (706) 592-4230.

Today: The Women's Pistol Shooting Group will meet at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club pistol range. This group is open to all female pistol shooters. Beginners are encouraged to attend. Range fee is $15. Sessions will be held at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Call (803) 641-1742 for information.

Wednesday: A CD/online review Georgia Hunter Education Course will be held from 6-8 p.m. at the first floor auditorium at Eisenhower Army Medical Center, Fort Gordon. Participants should pre-register at www.georgiawildlife.com or by calling (770) 389-7275.

Saturday: An ICORE revolver-only shoot will be held at Pinetucky Gun Club beginning at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $4 for members and $12 for non-members. Call (706) 592-4230 for details.

Aug. 19: NRA's Women on Target program will be held at Pinetucky Gun Club and events are open to ladies 16 and older. Introductory forearms courses are included. Cost is $5 and firearms and ammo are provided. Hours are 9:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. and lunch is included. Call (706) 592-4230 for more details.

Aug. 25: An ATA Registered Trap Shoot will be held at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club. Shooting will start at 10 a.m. Contact Peggy Crockett at (803) 640-0878 or carolinak80@aol.com for information and registration.

Aug. 25: Diamond Lakes Regional Park will be the backdrop for the "No Booze Festival" from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The annual event is a fund raiser and awareness booster for families who have lost loved ones to alcohol. Families can plan to spend the day, do some fishing and enjoy food from Sconyer's, Chef Redd and Grandma's Grill. E-mail noboozefestival@comcast.net for more details.

Aug. 25: NRA First Step Pistol Classes for beginning shooters will be held from 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. at Carolina Star Gun and Hunt Club in Windsor, S.C. The fundamentals of safety, pistol operation and marksmanship will be taught. Both classes will include a live-fire range session. Cost of the course is $60.
