MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mrs. Nancy Woodard Whittle, 71, entered into rest Saturday, August 4, 2007 at Heartland Hospice. Mrs. Whittle was a native of Waycross, Ga., but had resided in Augusta the past 50 years. She retired after 30 years as owner and operator of Whittle's Florist. Mrs. Whittle was past president and current treasurer of the Greater Augusta Florist Association, secretary of the Georgia Florist Association, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Peace Officers Association of Georgia Richmond County Chapter, and was a member of West Acres Baptist Church. Family members include her sons, John E. Whittle III (Mary) of Grovetown, Clay N. Whittle (Bonnie) of Appling, Kenneth A. Whittle (Debbie) of Greenwood, S.C.; daughter, Beth W. Hensley of Martinez; grandchildren, Ryan, Rachael, Clayton, Connor, Adam, Avery, and Ali Whittle, Shannon, Hunter, and Taylor Hensley, Andy and Aldon Cheek; 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Dr. Albert Woodard (Harriett) of Waycross; nephew, David Woodard; and nieces, Susan W. Pittman and the late Allison W. Carter. Funeral services will be held today (Tuesday), August 7, 2007, 3:00 p.m., at West Acres Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Harmon, Pastor Terry Jackson, and Pastor Eddie West officiating. Pallbearers will be James Barnes, David Woodard, Bill Pittman, John Turner, Bob Smith, and Rick Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Johnson, Louise Weathers, Teresa Reid, Faye Beckworth, Joyce Beck, Cheryl Lowe, Leona Holley, and Nona Ligon. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
