AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Donald Ray Kitchens, Sr., 53, beloved husband of 33 years to Marilyn Horne Kitchens, passed away of lung cancer on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at Heartland Hospice. Funeral services will held on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel with the Rev. Charles Krewson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Pinion Kitchens and his father in law, William C. Horne, Sr. Mr. Kitchens was a very loving husband, father and Poppy who loved animals, gardening, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He had a great personality and quick wit, and was always doing different projects around the house. Mr. Kitchens believed deeply in the Lord, and is up in Heaven with his beloved mother. In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by his son, Donald "Donny" Ray Kitchens, Jr., of Augusta, his daughter, Jennifer Nicole Kitchens Williams, and her husband, Shawn, of Augusta, his father and step mother, George and Faye Kitchens, of Harlem, a brother, Tony Fred Kitchens of Augusta, two sisters, Patricia Kelly of Augusta, and Linda Wood and husband, Ronnie, of Beech Island, a grandchild, Jordan Alyssa Williams, four adopted grandchildren, Katelyn Horne, Hunter Horne, Shaquanna Bradley and Sammy Bradley. He is also survived by his four loving companions, Sassy, Lexi, Scrappy and Daisy. Pallbearers will be, Tony Horne, Charles Kelly, David Taylor, Bobby Taylor, Donald Pinion Jr., Ronnie Pinion, Eddie Pinion, and Brian Olgesby. Honorary pallbearers will be co-workers from plant operations at Doctors Hospital. The family wishes to thank the staff of Doctors Hospital, the staff of Augusta Oncology (Dr. Squires), and Heartland Hospice.
