AUGUSTA, Ga. - Ms. Janet Stapleton, 62, of Augusta, died at her home July 8, 2007. A graveside service was held Thursday, July 12, 2007, Northview Cemetery, Dublin Ga. The Rev. Wally Weaver officiated. Adams Funeral Home of Dublin was in charge of the arrangements. Ms. Stapleton was predeceased by her brother, James Wright Stapleton, Jr. Ms. Stapleton is survived by four sisters, Carol Stapleton Carrere of Eugene, Ore., Margaret Stapleton, Augusta, Ga., Brenda Stapleton Carlan of Orlando, Fla., and Ann Marie Stapleton, Augusta, Ga. Ms. Stapleton was born in Birmingham, Ala. on March 12, 1945 to the late Marie Cope and Dr. James Wright Stapleton, Sr. She was a 1963 graduate of Dublin High School. Following her fathers love of medicine and desire to care for others, she received a Diploma in Nursing from the Georgia Baptist School of Nursing, Atlanta, Ga. in 1967. She later continued her studies and received her Bachelor Degree in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta in 1976, and her Master Degree in Nursing, also from the Medical College of Georgia, in 1977. Pursuing her nursing career, Ms. Stapleton's work included University Hospital, Augusta, the Medical College of Georgia Health, Inc., Blue Cross/Blue Shield, MetLife, and Georgia Correctional Health Care. Ms. Stapleton retired in 2000 for health reasons.
