Benefit auditions

The Music Man auditions will be held at 2 p.m. today, Saturday and Aug. 5, and at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Aiken Electric Co-Op, 2790 Wagener Road, Aiken. The open auditions are for the Aiken Kidney Benefit production being staged Nov. 9-11. There are parts for males and females, ages 10 to senior citizens. Everyone should come prepared to sing. Bike night

There will be a bike night from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the SNO-CAP Drive-In, 618 West Ave., North Augusta. Door prizes will be awarded. Proceeds from the event will benefit The Art Factory Inc., a nonprofit community school offering classes and camps in visual arts, dance, theatre, music and writing. Call (803) 279-4004.

Taxpayer meeting

The Aiken County Taxpayers Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Aiken County Council building, 736 Richland Ave. W., Aiken. The meeting is open to the public. Call (803) 649-2393.

Tuition increases

Full-time students from South Carolina will pay an extra $54 in tuition this fall at Aiken Technical College.

Out-of-state students will pay an extra $144.

In-state full-time tuition is $1,512 per semester. The fall semester begins Aug. 20.

Building a future

The Washington Savannah River Corp. needs engineers to work with teams in local schools that are seeking to enter the national Future City Competition.

Nominees needed

Applications are now being accepted for the 2007 North Augusta Small Business Person of the Year. The recipient will be announced at the Business Expo/Job Fair/Seminar on Sept. 13 at North Augusta Community Center, 495 Brookside Drive. The deadline to apply is Aug. 31.

Grant applicants

The Community Foundation for the Central Savannah River Area is accepting applications for the 2007 Unrestricted Grants Program.

All 501(c)(3) organizations serving Columbia, Burke, Richmond and McDuffie counties in Georgia and Aiken and Edgefield counties in South Carolina may apply.

Seeking almuni

Volunteers to go
