'harry potter and the deathly hallows'

BY J.K. ROWLING ($34.99, Scholastic)

RELEASED: Saturday

MY THOUGHTS: The Golden Trio take their battles to a new setting with nonstop action. Each character has definitely matured. The focus is concentrated not only on the impending crisis of war, horcruxes and You-Know-Who, but also on the relationships between Harry, Ron and Hermione and how they respond to their increasingly difficult situation.

THE VERDICT: This book is much different from the others in more ways than one. Characters and coincidences from past books pop up, so I hope you didn't skim over the fifth or sixth installment. All around, Deathly Hallows is an action-packed novel that kept me holding my breath until the end.

MY THOUGHTS: Pixar seems to have the innate ability to give us stereotypically unlovable characters (monsters, rats and bugs) and transform them into lovable heroes and heroines. In this case we have Remy, a French rat who wants to learn how to cook despite the wishes of his father.

Remy meets a down-on-his-luck man in Paris, learns how to control his actions, conquers the art of cooking, warms over an icy critic and voila, we have another excellent movie by Pixar.

To which I say, Bravo!
