SYLVANIA, Ga. - Mrs. Stella Davis Stevens passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007. She was residing in Vidalia, Georgia with her niece, Jennifer Blount and her husband David Blount since October 2004. Mrs. Stevens was a native of Screven County, Sylvania, Georgia where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Chance Hill Circle, Ellis Miller Sunday School Class, The Altar Guild, and the Screven County Garden Club. Mrs. Stevens was retired from the U.S. Civil Service as a Personnel Programs Manager. She is the widow of the late J. Harry Stevens. Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Kelly of Sylvania and Kathryn Frantz of Cantonment, Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers will be Charles Ray Smith, J.D. Collins, Christopher Blount, David Blount, Ray Douglas Stevens, Garland Hitchcock, David Frantz, and Herbie Weaver. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Chance Hill Circle, The Ellis Miller Sunday School. Class, The Altar Guild, The Screven County Garden Club, Margaret Evans, Cathy Sheffield, Evelyn Hubbard, and Ted Burne. Funeral services for Mrs. Stevens will be held Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at the Sylvania First United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Cravey, Dr. H. W. Hankins, and Rev. Sonny Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Screven County Memorial Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Thompson-Strickland-Waters Funeral Home of Sylvania.
