AUGUSTA, Ga. - Lorna E. Wilcher entered into rest Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Westwood Nursing Facility. Mrs. Wilcher was born in Mills County, Iowa, the daughter of the late William Echternach and Emma Hanfeld Echternach. She retired as an administrative assistant with the civil service having worked in the Provost Marshall's Office, Educational Dept., and the Command Historian Office in the Archive Dept. at Fort Gordon. She received numerous awards of excellence in those fields. Mrs. Wilcher was a Lutheran. Family members include her son, Terry Wilcher; niece, Diane Weeks and her husband Carl; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Echternach and sister, Wyleen Cothran. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Poteet Funeral Homes West Chapel, 3686 Wheeler Road, Augusta, Ga., with Chaplain Ken Wilson officiating. Memorials may be made "In Memory of Lorna Wilcher" to Westwood Nursing Facility, 561 University Drive, Evans, Georgia 30809.
