SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. - Conrad William McGahee, 77, a resident of St. Simons Island, died Friday, July 13, 2007 in the Hospice of the Golden Isles. Mr. McGahee was a native of Augusta, Ga. and had been a resident of Glynn County for the past 7 years. He was a graduate of Richmond Academy in Augusta and Georgia State University in Atlanta. He was employed with Delta Airlines for 10 years and with Lockheed Aircraft from 1968 to 1990 and retiring that year. He was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy Veterans and was very active in Genealogy with his cousin, Kenneth McGahee. He was a member of the St. Simons United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Betty Steed McGahee of St. Simons Island; son and daughter-in-law, Marvin W. and Michelle Leasure McGahee of St. Simons Island; grandchildren, Whitney McGahee Taylor (Scott) of Atlanta, Ga., Daniel William McGahee, and Evan Michael McGahee, both of St. Simons Island; a brother, George Spee McGahee of Harlem, Ga. Memorial Services will be held at later date in Augusta, Georgia. The family request in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Boy's Farm in Newbery, South Carolina.
