GLOVERVILLE, S.C. - Entered into rest on Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Mattie C. Hall Healthcare Center. He was the husband of 62 years to Mrs. Kathleen Sizemore Barton. He was preceded in death by a great grandson, PFC Nicholas Aaron Tanton. Surviving with his wife are six children, four sons and their wives: Harry Barton (Dale), Gloverville, SC, Donald Barton (Vonnice), Burnettown, SC, Douglas Barton, Gloverville, SC and Tommy Barton (Linda), Graniteville, SC; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia Cross (James), Augusta, GA and Iva Sheppard (Emmett), Aiken, SC; a brother, James Barton, Gloverville, SC, a sister, Iva Porterfield, Gloverville, SC, eighteen grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Mr. Barton was born in Aiken County, SC to the late Andrew and Elizabeth Prescott Barton. He retired from Bath Mill with 30 years of service. He was a member of Gloverville First Baptist Church. Mr. Barton was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and he was awarded the E.A.M.E.T. Campaign Medal with two bronze stars. Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 o'clock at Gloverville First Baptist Church with Revs. Carl Hayes, Dale Davis and Ronnie Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandchildren: Carl Tanton, Darrin Tanton, Laron Tanton, Woody Barton, Kenneth Barton, Stephen Barton, Brian Barton, and a special friend Al Norris. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to Gloverville First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 157, Gloverville, SC 29828. The family would like to express their thanks to the employees of Mattie C. Hall for their excellent care to Pa Pa.
