HEPHZIBAH, Ga. - Nancy Elaine Walker McCarty, a longtime Hephzibah resident, died at her home on Thursday, June 28, 2007. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Loyd Z. Walker, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Danforth Walker. She was 53 years old. Funeral services will be conducted at The Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel, on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Committal services will follow in the family plot at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Dr. Darrell C. Pond will officiate. She is survived by her husband, Samuel Bannister of Hephzibah; her daughters, Melissa Doyle Strickland and her husband, Stephen, of Wilmington, NC, Mary Doyle Howard and her husband, Lionel, of Augusta, and Kelly Nicole McCarty of Hephzibah; her sons, Eugene "Trey" L. Doyle III, and Dustin P. Doyle and his wife, Debbie of Hephzibah; her sisters, Beth Walker Ferguson of Augusta, Susan Walker Hensley of Grovetown, Debra R. Walker, Teresa Walker Collins, and Sheila Walker Ridlehoover all of Hephzibah, her brothers, Richard D. Walker of Grovetown, and Dennis K. Walker of Martinez; her four grandchildren. Mrs. McCarty was born in Cobb County, Ga. She had lived in the Augusta area since childhood after moving from Marietta. Mrs. McCarty had been a nurse at Gracewood Hospital and Andress Nursing Home (which became Amana Healthcare). She was a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church. The Poteet Funeral Homes, South Chapel, 3465 Peach Orchard Road, Augusta, 706-798-8886, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.
