Our president needs our prayers

  • Follow Letters

For all Americans who are patriotic and love our country, we are long overdue in praying for our president.

I ask you to pray for President Bush and all the good things he has done for our country. He needs to be thanked for his stand, to protect America as commander in chief, regardless of what you believe or think.

The weight of the world is on his shoulders, and he needs God's blessings and help to continue the job for which he did not ask, leading and guiding our country after the assault on Sept. 11. He has kept his faith and has moved forward the best he is allowed our Senate and House, regardless of some naysayers. He perseveres for our cause, whether you agree with it or not, regardless of some naysayers, and deserves much, much more than is given him.

Personally, I do not want the conflict on American grounds (maybe others do?), and I do want recompense for what was handed to America on that day - and victory is the recompense.

Politics are nasty. Period. People who pit one against another via politics are powermongers and nasty. Period. My opinion; I'm entitled. He covets our prayers, needs them and will be thankful for them. Come on, patriotic America - step up to the plate. Nothing in life is free.

Ann Lynn, North Augusta, S.C.

Yes,we should pray that all

Yes,we should pray that all who sin will realize the errors of our ways and turn back to God. He did ask for the job, and has lied and done our country a great disservice. This man has no conscience, and his VP is even worse. It is a fallacy that war in Iraq has or will keep terrorism away from the US. It is much more likely that this war will make certain that it comes here. We opened Iraq to Al Qaeda, and to the influence of Iran.

I pray that those who have

I pray that those who have been brainwashed by the administration will see through the politics of fear and realize that no government employee has divine power to govern, that this is a blasphemy against the Constitution of the United States.

I hope our next president will be a peacemaker. Our current president has actually made this an even more dangerous world for the citizens of the United States.

Ms. Lynn writes, "Politics

Ms. Lynn writes, "Politics are nasty. Period. People who pit one against another via politics are powermongers and nasty." She seems to lose sight of the fact that President Bush is the ultimate politician, thus fitting her definition of one who is a powermonger and "nasty." Winning the presidency doesn't make a person a statesman - it just gives him power, for better or worse.

I do pray for our President

I do pray for our President because he is our President. I don't like Bush, but I don't hate him. He has done a lot that I don't agree with. I pray that our next President will be a better leader and peace maker.

GACopperhead, you Bush hating

GACopperhead, you Bush hating leftists can allege Bush lied all you want, but it wont change the FACT that NO credible investigative body has proven him to have lied about anything.
Laurak, name all those mistakes Bush has made in the name of religion. If you are referring to EMBRYONIC stem cell research, I and millions of other Christians support him in opposing government paying for such. BTW, name one desease stem cell research has cured to date.
Englishchick, you obviously have President Bush confused with Hitlery Cliton.

Give me a break! Pray for

Give me a break! Pray for Bush? Not a chance! I do pray for the end of his administration and that he and Cheney will somehow meet the justice they have earned. Nothing would give me more pleasure that seeing both of these rotten crooks behind bars. As for the terrorists following us to the US - they have us right where Osama wants us - in his territory where he and his band of murderers can strike with impunity and we don't even know who the enemy is. He has 140,000 Americans in Iraq, fighting a losing war, and easily identifiable to his followers. Most of our American deaths were not really in actual combat, but driving down the road and being blown to bits by IEDs planted by these savages.

Pray for Bush? I only pray that he lives to the end of his term so we don't have Cheney for president for even a day. That would be the only thing worse than Bush "leading" us.

i like the koolaid, too. i

i like the koolaid, too. i believe we are a nation that has grown weak from domestic agendas bent on forcing us to concentrate so hard on overcoming our differences that we fail to realize a simple truth: some people think differently & we cannot change that by talking "sense" to them. all the sanctions, negotiations, and treaties with middle eastern countries have amounted to nothing. iraq was made powerful thru its alliance with the u.s. - now it is back to the same place as other desert dwelling nations. iran is slowly coming around to the idea that 70% of its population wants good relations with the u.s. and are sick and tired of watching its leadership posturing and provoking western countries. iranians benefitted from watching their next door neighbor iraq get its tail kicked; now, we just have to wait until the iranian population gets fed up enough to ask for help or take care of their problem themselves. pray for peace - but don't sit around hoping for another chance to talk sense to the next hitler to come down the pike.

The only "recompense" Bush

The only "recompense" Bush deserves is paying back his debt to the World via trial at the Hague. It is because of people like the writer that the World finds itself in the mess it is in. They, by electing this incompetent fool, are the ones that created "the weight of the World that is on his shoulders". Birds of a feather, fools voting for fools.

we have separated ourselves

we have separated ourselves into believers & non-believers as voters. some believe that the best option is to engage in dialogue & sanctions until the other side gives in; others believe that waiting on the next shoe to drop isn't such a great idea. we created a disaster during the reagan administration by backing one tyrant (saddam) over another (khomeni). i'll freely admit that i never agreed with reagan's foreign policy agenda - but i do agree with bush that it was high time we cleaned up a mess we made. the more i watch the situation in the middle east the more i am convinced that our aggression has kept iran in check and, ultimately, will eventually lead to a more stable middle east. i don't have time on my side in this reasoning, however; anyone who wants the "quick fix" won't be satisfied until we tuck tail and run from a tough fight.

Ann Lynn isn't asking

Ann Lynn isn't asking (overtly anyway) for us to pray for George W.
Bush as a person & as a leader to make wise decisions on our
behalf. She is asking that we pray for him to vanquish those whom he
& others who have drunk the Kook-Aid label "terrorists". Fine
distinctions between homegrown vs foreign jihaddists, Sunni vs Shiite,
historical context, history of Iraq, history of Afghanistan - none of
that matters. Ann Lynn wants this country united under Bush in a
crusade to vanquish his foes. Ann Lynn sees George W. Bush as the
defender of the western way of life & savior of Christian
civilization. Her letter should be juxtaposed with Mark Twain's "A War
Prayer". For Bone to say that he thinks Bush is justified because he is
keeping Iran in check: what would United States do if Iran or any other
country occupied Mexico & Canada? Both Afghanistan & Iraq are
on Iran's borders just as Mexico & Canada are on United States'
borders. You think we would sit idly by & allow this to happen in
OUR region - OUR hemisphere? What is the Iranian equivalent of The
Monroe Doctrine? United States has repeatedly stuck its nose where it
doesn't belong. The world, not just Iran, has had enough of Bush.

The only thing weighing on

The only thing weighing on "W" is his wallet which has been heavliy padded with oil profits since the search for WMDs began. I remember distinctly when the war was declared over and the Prez proudly announced MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Does anyone remember when he RE-declared war? I will say that I admire his loyalty to his friends although he does seem to place more value on his personal relationships than he does on the matters that directly affect our Nation's security.

So my prayer for him is to POOF - BE GONE!

cain, iran will not occupy

cain, iran will not occupy mexico, canada, or even your house: the iranians were the 2nd most likely country in the middle east to do something incredibly stupid with a large arsenal (the 1st being iraq). iran has effectively been taken out of the fight - the world owes the u.s. a big thank you. if north korea succumbs next, will you or anyone else acknowledge that "MIGHT MAKES RIGHT?" and as far as "the world" is concerned, are you talking about such paragons of foreign relations as france, belgium, or any other lightweight in western europe? or do you mean the countries that started into this venture with the u.s. but couldn't suck up the courage to stand and fight when things got tough? if bush hadn't attacked, we'd be in a much weaker position to combat the crazies (no sense calling them terrorists anymore - they just want to blow themselves up & kill as many of their countrymen as possible).

jack, the Democrats have

jack, the Democrats have proved that George Bush loves Al Gonzalez enough to give him a vote of confidence despite being proved a worthless liar just as himself. The Democrats have tried to honor the request of 60% of Americans to end the war in Iraq, but of course this is not our war it is George Bush's war. If he gave a damn about the rest of us he would respect our concerns and end the war. It has been proven the Republicans kept better records on the US attorneys they fired than the personal communications they are required by law to keep on themselves, by the way they conveniently loss while being investigated. It has been proven that Republicans are spiritual hypocrits because they have allowed a member of their party to try to sleep with little boys in the Capitol building. It is kind of hard to accomplish much of anything when so much time is spent trying to convict Bob Ney, Tom Delay, and Scooter Libby due to our "Morally Correct" conservatives. jack is does not take a scientist to help reasonable people understand how shameful conservatives have led this country. I am a proud American, but our President and his party are hypocritical liars and I think you know it....

Ann Lynn, we all pray for our

Ann Lynn, we all pray for our president even though he is a liar and a crook. Either he was mislead by his constituents or just plain lied to us all about the reasons why our soldiers should go to Iraq. NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION were found. BIN LADEN HAS NOT BEEN FOUND. We found Sadam in a hole and we can't find a 6 foot 9 inch diabetic terrorist? How naive are you? I do pray for our president. I pray he gets his bags packed and gets out of the whitehouse so, god willing, our new president can clean up his mess while he retires to all the oil money that his has made by sending our soldiers to the middle east to steal oil. President Bush would have never won his second term if Senator John Kerry would have had a "more moral opinion" on gays and same sex marriage. The election was his until his stance on that issue came about. All christian americans of any race ran to the polls to vote for the present crook in office because of that. I agree with Kerry, we can't stop people from doing what they fell natural so let them do it and let god judge them, not man. And oh yeah let's not forget about the cheating in Florida that Jeb facilitated to get him elected. BUSH = CROOK!

necodaddy, any chance we GAVE

necodaddy, any chance we GAVE wmd's to iraq when we were funding/supplying weapons to them during their war with iran? i suspect we'll find out a few years from now that we were 100% sure iraq was armed - because we armed them. no, i'm not religious, either, but i do like the flavor of koolaid being passed around. hmm, is that "FIXING THE PROBLEM IN THE MIDDLE EAST THE ONLY WAY THE TOWELHEADS WILL EVER UNDERSTAND" flavoring? delicious.
