FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. - Reba Spivey Mathews, 89, of Fayetteville, Georgia, died Monday, June 4, 2007 after an extended illness. She was born in Coffee County, Georgia on September 14, 1917 and had lived in Fayetteville since 1996. She was a Nurse's Aid in the Aiken County Hospital, Aiken, South Carolina before moving to New York in 1958 where she continued in that capacity at the Forest Hills Hospital in Queens, New York. She graduated from the Queens Beauty Institute, Inc, School of Cosmetology with honors in 1963 and the Academy of Beauty in Atlanta in 1967. She worked as a Beautician until her retirement. Reba was a former member of the Langley Church of God in Langley, South Carolina where she sang in a trio for many years in the church and on the radio. She attended the Fayetteville Church of God and the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Discipleship Sunday School class. Her passion was cooking and entertaining her family. She loved Boston Terriers and leaves a friend behind that will miss her. She is predeceased by her husband, Ralph Mathews; and her son, Kenneth Mathews, formerly of Cochran, Georgia. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Nathan and Kaydee Young Mathews of Fayetteville; her grandson and wife Jon and Holly Mathews of Newnan; and her granddaughter and husband, Sharon and Ken White of Madras, Oregon. She is also survived by her son's widow, Eleanor Mathews Batchelor and her husband Bennie Batchelor of Cochran, Georgia. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Fayetteville First United Methodist Church. Rev. Dr. Bob Martin and Rev. Mark Westmoreland will be officiating. Interment will be at Westminster Memorial Gardens in Peachtree City, Ga. The family will receive friends at the Carl J.
