EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Sara Rodgers Rucker, 81, entered into rest Sunday, June 3, 2007 at University Hospital, in Augusta. Graveside memorial services will be held, at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 7, 2007 at Westover Memorial Park, in Augusta with Chaplain Michael Riddle officiating. A devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Rucker was born October 5, 1925 in West Point, GA and was educated in the public schools, of West Point. She earned her RN degree, at the Nursing School of Piedmont Hospital, in Atlanta, GA and worked at Emory University Hospital, in Atlanta. She was a Hospice volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital, in Augusta for many years, a Garden Therapy Program volunteer, at Georgia Regional Hospital and a volunteer at the Mental Health Center, at University Hospital. She was active in P.T.A., the Garden Club and the Auxiliary of Richmond County Medical Society. She is survived by her husband, Julius T. Rucker, Jr. of Evans, and five children and spouses, Susan Rucker Carter (Michael) of Savannah, GA, Stephen T. Rucker (Eugenia) of Tucker, GA, Patricia Rucker Dempsey (Kenneth) of Hatteras, NC, Pamela Rucker Dillard (John) of Roswell, GA, Sara E. Rucker Arkow (Kenneth) of Chicago, IL and ten grandchildren, Sara Carter Cross, Catherine Carter, Michael Rucker, Nina Rucker, Elizabeth Rucker, Kenneth Dempsey, Lucas Dempsey, Jacob Dempsey, Richard Dillard and Patricia Dillard.
