Rants and raves

Comments from readers:

ON THE FRONT of the page it says that officials lobby together to try and save the Medical College of Georgia and keep it here in Augusta. But on the back of the same page, of the same paper, it says the area in Athens has already come up with the money and made the decision to change the base to a medical college campus. If Augusta officials do not stand together and stand on their word, then we will lose the Medical College of Georgia to Athens.

MANY OF OUR TROOPS are killed and injured by roadside bombs. Why not send remote-control vehicles ahead of the convoys to clear the roads of bombs? We may lose the vehicles, but we won't lose lives.

THE IMPROVEMENTS that need to be done on Broad Street and in the cemeteries can be done by some of the prisoners. It can help reduce their time or fines and give them fresh air that I'm sure they need.

WE SEEM TO HAVE reached a point in our electoral system where the candidate raising and spending the most money is elected. What happened to all the people, for the people and by the people?

THIS GOES OUT to everyone that kept honking a horn at me and my sister and two kids in front of the Augusta Mall. Our car died, and we couldn't move it. After we called the cops, several of them just passed us by, not willing to help. But we do want to thank the gentleman who did stop and helped us. God bless you.

THIS IS A RAVE for the kind person who found my cell phone at the North Augusta Greeneway. I apologize for not getting your name so I could have sent you a reward. But I'm sure that God will go ahead and give you some goodwill for what you did.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW why The Chronicle does not report the people who are not using seat belts when they have car accidents. That should be put in the paper to show how many people are getting killed from not wearing their seat belts.

THIS IS A RANT for NASCAR and drag boat racing. With the nation so concerned with fuel economy and oil consumption, why is it that they can continue to do this? Is it because they have the sponsors to spend $5 a gallon and throw billions and billions of dollars away? How come they can use our country's resources in this wasteful way?

I HOPE THAT BEN HARBIN comes out and talks to the people about how sorry he is and gets some help. God can still forgive him, and mankind can also. He's a fine man and deserves the support. He's very down to earth and humble hearted, and I'm sorry that he's in the trouble that he's in.
