WAYNESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Lindner Odom, Jr., 68, beloved husband of Mrs. Pat Odom, entered into rest Thursday, May 24, 2007 at Burke Medical Center. Mr. Odom was born in Girard, Ga. to the late Mamie Holland and Lindner Odom, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Crisis. Mr. Odom was employed for BAE Defense Systems as a Senior Buyer. He volunteered as the Basketball Coach for Edmund Burke Academy from 1970 until 1976 and also volunteered for many sporting activities with the Burke County Recreation Department. Mr. Odom was a member of the Waynesboro Country Club and the Sapelo Country Club in Shellman Bluff, Ga. In high school, he loved playing basketball and baseball. Mr. Odom was an avid golfer and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband and father and will be missed by all that knew him. Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2007 from the Chapel of DeLoach Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with Reverend Marshall Singletary officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Members of the Edmund Burke Academy Basketball Team during the years from 1970 until 1976; Larry Askew, George DeLoach, Charlie E. Johnson, Jack Garner, Dave Henry, Bobby Edmonds, J. M. Aycock, Jimmy Jones, Larry Cochran, Barry Cochran, Gary Cochran, and T.V. "Bo" Cochran. Family members, other that Mrs. Odom, are a daughter, Julie Dawn Odom of Augusta; a sister, Rebecca Odom Dixon of Waynesboro; and a brother-in-law, Michael L. Sapp (Margie) of Beaufort, S.C. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund of Edmund Burke Academy, P.O. Box 787, Waynesboro, Ga. 30830 or the Building Fund of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 420, Waynesboro, Ga. 30830 or Heartland Hospice, 1365 Interstate Pkwy, Augusta, Ga. 30909. The family will receive friends Friday, May 25, 2007 from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
