NEW ORLEANS, La. - Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Santiago A. Garcia, U.S.A. (Ret.) entered his eternal rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2007. LTC Garcia is survived by his beloved and loving wife of fifty-two years, Mary Todd Willingham Garcia; his children, Robert B. Garcia of Acworth, Ga., James Garcia and his wife, Michelle Garcia, of Round Rock, Texas, and John T. Garcia, and his wife, Elizabeth S. "Bunny" Garcia, of Martinez, Ga. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda and Emily Garcia of Round Rock, Texas, and Todd and Patrick Garcia of Martinez, Ga.; by his sisters, Maria G. Daly of New Orleans and Rosita G. Reisig of LaCombe, La.; and his loving nieces and nephews. LTC Garcia was a 1954 graduate of Tulane University (B.A. Political Science), a 1968 graduate of San Jose State University (M.A. Political Science), and a 1977 graduate of Georgia State University (Ph.D. Education). After a distinguished military career, he taught at Carver High School in Columbus, Ga. and was a Professor of Education and Chairman of the Department of Education and Psychology at LaGrange College, LaGrange, Ga. until his retirement. LTC Garcia will be buried with full military honors in a private service, Friday, May 11, 2007. Schoen Funeral Home of Covington is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be made to the Georgia-Carolina Council, Boy Scouts of America, 1804 Gordon Highway, Augusta, Ga. 30904 or to the St. Tammany Parish Hospital Hospice, 1202 South Tyler Street, Covington, La. 70433-9908.
