CAMDEN, S.C. - Funeral services for Mary Brinkley LaFrage, 84, of Camden will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at Bethesda Presbyterian Church with burial to follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Chip Summers, Rev. Steve Lee, Rev. Dr. Ben Sloan and Rev. Jim Shaffer will officiate. Family will receive friends following the service at John Knox Hall. In lieu of flowers send memorials to Bethesda Presbyterian Church, 502 DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020. Mrs. LaFrage, wife of James L. LaFrage, Sr. died Sunday, May 6, 2007. Born in Ellenton, SC, she was the daughter of the late Basil Turner and Mary Russell Brinkley. She graduated with the class of 1945 from Coker College with a BA in Elementary Education. Mrs. LaFrage taught 3rd and 5th grade at Pine Tree Hill School where she retired. She was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, 55 Plus Club and the Circle of Bethesda Presbyterian Church. After her retirement, she enjoyed her cats, being a homemaker and working in her yard. She was known for her cooking and wonderful desserts, as well as her kind and loving heart. Surviving are her husband, James L. LaFrage, Sr.; children, Victoria L. Mills and her husband James H. of Chapin, Becky and James L. LaFrage, Jr. of Camden; brother, Basil T. Brinkley, Jr. of Jackson, SC; grandchildren, Sam B. and Jack L. LaFrage; step-grandchildren; Kathleen T. Ott, Mary T. Gales, Bryan Mills and Ashley Mills; step-great-grandchildren, Josh Touchberry, Tyler Ott, Brooke and Buddie Gales, Preston Mills. She was predeceased by a brother, Richard Henry Brinkley; sister, Margaret Ann Brinkley; grandson, James L. LaFrage, III, son-in-law Paul R. Tisdale, and nephew Randy Brinkley whom she had requested to be a pallbearer at her service. Active Pallbearers are Richard Brinkley, Jr., Steve Brinkley, Gordon English, Bryan Mills, Dr. Chip Merriman, Otto Russell and Buddy Kammer.
