WHAT WAS DISCUSSED:
Nine Richmond County schools are a step closer to having new principals. A school board committee recommended the promotions during a meeting Tuesday.
The recommendations were as follows: Collins Elementary School Assistant Principal Glenn Harvey Andrews to be principal of Glenn Hills Middle School; Tutt Middle School Assistant Principal LaMonica Lewis to be principal of Morgan Road Middle School; East Augusta Middle School Assistant Principal Thomas J. Norris to be principal of Tubman Middle School; Glenn Hills Middle School Assistant Principal Benjamin Motley Jr. to be principal of Lamar Elementary School; Hephzibah High School Assistant Principal Victoria Reese to be principal of Meadowbrook Elementary School; Butler High School Assistant Principal Elizabeth Schad to be principal of A. Brian Merry Elementary School; Lake Forest Hills and Warren Road elementary schools Assistant Principal Kathryn Perrin to be principal of Monte Sano Elementary School; Cross Creek High School Assistant Principal Jason Moore to be principal of Rollins Elementary School; and Deer Chase Elementary School instructional specialist Dorothy Beck to be principal of Willis Foreman Elementary School.
Some of the positions are becoming open as principals retire, and the positions at Tubman, Glenn Hills and Morgan Road are being filled because of restructuring.
ACTION TAKEN:
The committee took a separate roll call vote on each position, but recommended that all nine be made principals at the respective schools.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The full school board will meet Thursday to consider approving the recommendations of the committee. The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the board's central offices, 864 Broad St.
