We think we have it bad here in Richmond County, Georgia, look at this: JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - A gang stripped a South African man before gluing him to an exercise bicycle while they ransacked his house, according to a report Thursday.
SAPA news agency said the attackers, dressed in suits, hijacked a man in his 50s and forced him at gunpoint to take them to his home in Johannesburg.
The victim was then forced to strip, after which he was superglued to the seat of an exercise bicycle, his hands were superglued, as were his feet and then his mouth was superglued shut, SAPA quoted Mark Stokoe, a spokesman for emergency services Netcare 911, as saying. (Reuters)
It doesn't seem to safe in Richmond County around 2 or 3 am. Seems like police could pick up on the pattern here. How many people are actually out that late not causing trouble. I know there are a few not doing anything wrong.....
They should have had the bomb threat meeting three years ago. This is ridiculous. 100 bomb threats? The solution is simple: caller id and harsh punishment for those who call in the threats. If they're calling from the few payphones left, just remove the pay phones, nobody but drug dealers and delinquents use them anyway. Punish the parents somehow if you have to. Leaving bomb threat notes in the bathrooms? Lock all but one bathroom and rotate teachers during their planning periods to do bathroom duty. Be aggressive. I would be embarrassed if I were a board member and some 12-year old deliquent could disrupt my school system and get away with it. I would not sleep until I found a way to stop it or at least slow it down. And when they're caught, make the student body stay after school for 15 minutes so that the guilty person can make a personal apology before the entire school 1.) for calling in the bomb threat and 2.) for making them stay after school for 15 minutes. Also, treat the bomb threat days as a weather day so that the whole school has to make up each bomb threat day at the end of the school year. I guarantee you this would make the students more willing to tattle.
I go to Church downtown. It is the only one of it's type in the area. I must admit that I am starting to feel a little nervous about going to evening services.
There seems to be a lot of people out at 2:00 & 3:00 am. Why? The bomb threats are probably being made by the same boys who tried to make a bomb a couple of months ago. May be responsible for the Fedex bomb too. Everyone thought that was so innocent. If the parents were responsible instead of letting the children raise themselves while they go to happy hour, work overtime, comment on R& R allday maybe some of these yuppie children would not grow up to become little Alec Baldwins or Kid Rock.
Ever notice that everything bad on here starts with the words "RICHMOND COUNTY!"
1st thing we need more outlets in Augusta. The only time you catch people out is 2am -3am. The 3 clubs they have in this town all let out at the same time so thieves know when to be out. This could never happen at this rapid a pace in Atlanta. 2 many lights, 2 many cars , 2 many police patrols, 2 many clubs open all night. This enviorment BREEDS trouble. Nothing 2 do, No where to go, No where in particular to be..... Think ABout IT!
You think because it is a mainly Richmond County NEWSPAPER?
Say what you want about Richmond County but we have the only real colleges, hospitals, museums, the Augusta Mall, the Augusta National,Green Jackets,Lynx,Richmond County has all the major cultural and employment hubs in theCSRA.All Columbia County and the other surrounding areas have are strip malls, overprice homes and disgruntled former Augustans. You cannot change the system from the outside, you have to work to make it better. All I can say is do not get to sick because MCG and Univrsity are quite a drive away.
It is not the county that is bad, but a few bad people who have decided not work for a living so that they can rob and kill other folks for nothing. The world has not change but the people living in it has.
I agree with marien, who cares what county the crimes occur in. There are good and bad people everywhere. Instead of stigmatizing the name, we should all come together as a city/town and do something about the criminals.
Richmond County is mostly Augusta? Yeah, most of the problems, most of the crime, most of the trash, and most of the people moving to Columbia County. Believe me if the Augusta National were able to relocate they woulld! No one wants to shop or eat in Richmond County and if Columbia County keeps it up we won't have to.
Crackertroy - Schools have caller ID -- they just can't trace certain cell phone calls. The bathroom suggestion is totally ridiculous -- most middle school classes take a class bathroom break and usually don't let students go alone unless it's a dire emergency. As for high school, no one has time to supervise the bathroom habits of 1400 students. Yes, we might do a quick check during our planning period, but that's it. You cannot lock the bathrooms during the day -- what's wrong with you?
What happened to my post?
I hate this town, I can go to other cities at night after dinner, such as Orlando, Charleston, Savannah or Dallas and never be afraid. I have never been approached or anything by people who want to rob me. This town sucks, Augusta will never amount to anything because the news is reported, but nothing is ever done about it! Richmond county's schools, commission and several other things are screwed up so I guess it is no shock that the law enforcement is screwed up as well. Where are all of the cops at? They sure do come out in full force when Masters is here....I cant wait to move! This town will never be progressive, it is in a MAJOR rut! Why do you think most of the businesses in downtown are closing? It is because there is NO law enforcement and nothing but trash and prostitutes downtown. Thats all I have to say.
chaterlau, if you hate it so much why don't you leave? Nobody is begging you to be here. I for one am sick of the winers complaining but not ever doing anything about it. I say, " Don't the the door knob hit you where the good Lord split you!"
chaterlau3,if you hate augusta ?put in a30 day notice and hall [filtered word] to olando, charleston, savannah,or dallas, are you on house arrest? or too darn broke, put that in your pipe and smoke it,kitty cat meow-meow.
