GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Entered into rest on April 25, 2007, SP5 Robert G. Akers, Jr., 86, husband of the late Mrs. Eileen Pressley Akers, of 1516 Brookstone Drive, Graniteville, SC. Surviving is a daughter, Evelyn Akers Hammett (Ronnie), Graniteville, SC, a son, Robert G. Akers III, Acworth, GA; a sister, Ann Sprague, Bangor, Maine, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mr. Akers was born in Roanoke, Virginia to the late Robert Grayson and Fannie Runyon Akers. He retired from the United States Army after 23 years of service. He proudly served his country in World War II, where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal, and Vietnam. He was of the Baptist Faith. Graveside services will be Saturday at 3 o'clock p.m. in the Evergreen Cemetery with Jeromy Dean officiating.
