AIKEN, S.C. - Jimmie Richard Brown, the only son of the late Celeste Winters Brown and Rich Brown, passed away on March 24, 2007 at his residence. He was born in Aiken, S.C. and was educated in the public schools of Aiken and graduated from Martha Schofield High School in 1962. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church, Aiken, S.C. He spent a tour of duty with the 82nd Airborne in Fort Bragg, N.C. and the Dominican Republic. He was cited for having 20 jumps to his credit while serving with the 82nd Airborne. He was honorably discharged in 1966 and returned to his beloved Aiken, S.C. He was employed with the Graniteville Company at the boiler room of the Stevens Steam Plant after his military career ended. He was united in holy wedlock to Annie L. Brown in 1968. To this union, twins were born, Stephen (Brandy) Brown and Stephanie Brown. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Ashleigh, Aderis, Avery, and Ahren; an uncle, Robbie Winters of Augusta, Ga.; and cousins in Miami, Fla. Funeral services will be at the Chapel of Shellhouse Funeral Home, Hayne Ave., Aiken, S.C., on Sunday, April 1, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. , Rev. Troy Toney will officiate. The interment will be private.
