William Kearse puts a fresh coat of paint on a sidewalk at the inn. Tournament participants and spectators will flood the region in coming days. Visitors stay as far north as Athens, Ga., as far south as Swainsboro and everywhere in between Atlanta and Columbia, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development. Practice rounds begin Monday at Augusta National Golf Club, and the tournament starts Thursday.

William Huckabee, a maintenance man for the Carriage House Inn in Aiken, pulls out a light fixture in preparation for Masters Week. The bed and breakfast's 16 rooms will be booked all week by a group of Australians.
