Southern California nips Georgia in extra innings

ATHENS, Ga. - Pinch hitter Michael Torres drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the 10th inning as Southern California defeated Georgia 7-6 on Sunday - wrapping up a three-game sweep of the Bulldogs.

First baseman J.J. Owen went 4-for-5 and third baseman Hector Rabago was 2-for-5 with 2 RBIs for the Trojans (13-7). Freshman pitcher Robert Stock improved to 2-0 on the season after going 2 2/3 innings in relief.

The Bulldogs (4-7) had rallied from a six-point deficit to tie the game in the ninth inning.

USC knocked out Georgia starter Jason Leaver in the second inning, after he gave up seven hits and four runs. Sophomore Tommy Milone went six innings for the Trojans, giving up three runs on four hits.

Reliever Joshua Fields took the loss for Georgia, falling to 0-2 on the year.

First baseman Luke Steward led the Bulldogs, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run.
