AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Ira Lester Spinks, Sr., 91, husband of the late Amelia Craig Spinks, entered into rest on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Hillcrest Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. A funeral Mass will be held today, Monday, March 5, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with the Rev. Justin Ferguson, as celebrant. Burial will follow at Westover Memorial Park. Mr. Spinks was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, who served with the 8th Air Corps in the China Burma India Theater. He was owner of Spinks Grocery Store for 12 years. He was also a retired postal clerk with the United States Postal Service and a member of St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church. Survivors include his sons, Ira Lester Spinks, Jr. of Augusta, and David Craig Spinks and wife, Carole, of Evans, his daughters, Frances Spinks Caver and husband, Chris, of Simpsonville, S.C., and Cecilia Spinks Camp and husband, Paul, of Savannah, six grandchildren, Elizabeth Camp Wynn, Mary Katherine Camp Melroy, Craig Caver, Lauren Camp, Patrick Camp, and Will Caver, and a great grandson, Patrick Thomas Wynn, Jr. Pallbearers will be Bill Bonnette, Stewart Spinks, Fred Lamback, III, Craig Caver, Patrick Camp and Will Caver.
