AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest on Monday, February 26, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital, Miss Eileen Heffernan Stulb. Miss Stulb was a native and lifelong resident of Augusta and the daughter of the late Marion C. Stulb and Eileen Anna Heffernan Stulb. She worked for many years in the advertising business and ran a successful local ad agency, Eileen Stulb Advertising. Miss Stulb was an avid and accomplished amateur golfer for most of her life, earning many honors for her skill at the game and for her advocacy on behalf of women's golf. She was the first woman to earn a spot on the golf team at Augusta College. Twice she was a runner-up in the prestigious Titleholders Championship, considered by many to be the women's equivalent of the Master's Tournament. She won the Georgia Women's State Amateur Championship twice and was twice a quarter-finalist in the Women's Western Amateur. She served on the Board of Directors for the USGA Senior Women's Committee and Titleholders Association. In 1971, she was local chairwoman for the USGA Girls Junior Championship held in Augusta. She was the recipient of a Sprint Lifetime Achievement Award, and in 2004, was inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame. Survivors include her niece; Jane C. Wandel of Reading, MA, her nephew; Joseph Corrigan of Nahusa, NH, two great nieces; Megan Wandel and Becky Wandel and a great nephew Michael Wandel. A funeral Mass will be conducted on Thursday, March 1, 2007, 12:00 noon, at St. Mary On-The-Hill Catholic Church with Rev. Gerald Ragan celebrant. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Heffernan, David Smith, Bert Harbin, Phil Harrison, Jr. and Peter Franklin. Interment will follow at Westover Memorial Park. A Vigil Service for the Deceased will be held at St. Mary-On-the-Hill Catholic Church Wednesday at 6:30 PM. If so desired memorial contributions may be made in Memory of Eileen H.
