AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Ruth O'Tyson Redd, age 82, of Augusta, entered into rest on Thursday afternoon, February 22, 2007 at her residence. Born in Appling to Crawford and Myrtis Sleister Reid, she had resided in the Augusta area since the age of 18. Mrs. Redd had retired from Gracewood State School and Hospital. She was a member of New Hope Worship Center. She is preceded in death by: her parents, her husband, Louis Redd and a sister, Christine May. She is survived by: 3 daughters, Valerie O'Tyson Hixon and her husband Robbie, Augusta, GA., Jean O'Tyson Knight and her husband Billy, White Pine, TN, Rita Ramsey Whitfield and her husband Duane, North Augusta, SC; a brother, Forrest Reid, Augusta, GA.; a sister, Carol Stankosky, Appling, GA; 7 grandchildren, Jamie Whitfield, Duane Whitfield, II, Bradley Whitfield, Chris Hixon, Scott Hixon, Shannon Jiles and Clint Fletcher; 7 great grandchildren, several nieces andnephews; and a special friend and caregiver, John Walgate. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 1134 Telfair Street with Reverend Brian Cockrell, officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
