EDGEFIELD, S.C. - South Carolina ETV will film 10 separate features in Edgefield County in coming months and plans to air them during a May 18 broadcast.

Representatives from the state educational television unit began work this week on logistics for a statewide broadcast of ETV's Road Show, set to air live from the square in downtown Edgefield.

"This is to let the city plan on how to route traffic and which streets to close," said Rob Schaller, SCETV's director of communications.

"We will be there sometime in March, probably multiple dates, to do some filming," he said. "We don't have the dates yet. That depends on when we can set up with different folks."

At a town council meeting earlier this week, Mayor Ken Durham said there was a possibility that downtown will be closed to traffic May 18 to handle the event.

Mr. Durham said 28 artists have pledged to set up on the street for the broadcast, and officials expect that number to increase.

Donna Livingston, the administrator of the county chamber of commerce, said the event will include an all-day downtown celebration.

The weeklong program will showcase different regions of South Carolina.
