Hillary for president? More's the pity

  • Follow Letters

I feel the pain of the Democratic Party faithful. They are stuck with Hillary Clinton as candidate for president of the United States, and none of the party stalwarts can say publicly what they really feel about it.

Her real supporters ignore the fact that Hillary does not speak the truth, or is not a very intelligent woman. Public sympathy for her as she played out the role of spousal victimology has played a great part in her present position of power.

Do her supporters really believe that Hillary was unaware of the constant womanizing of Bill Clinton? If so, they label her stupid. Of all of the insults Hillary's detractors can level at her, stupidity is not one of them. Ergo: Hillary received marital lemons from an unfaithful spouse, and she cleverly concocted political lemonade out of it. As so many victims manage to do, Hillary has made victimology profitable.

At that point in her march toward political power, Hillary became almost impossible to really question. Her victimhood placed her off-limits with regard to any tough questioning from the media. Unlike her pragmatic and politically charming husband, Hillary is a harsh, driven individual who will ultimately make her detractors pay for their lack of allegiance.

Pity the Democrats having to pretend she's their best candidate. Pity us all if she proves them right.

Gene L. Rickaby, Martinez

Hillary is a political

Hillary is a political manipulator. She is skillful, experienced, uninhibited and the truth never stands in her way. Her political success is a result of only appearing in the heart of liberal areas and only appearing before totally screened groups. Choir members, if you will. As her run for the White House progresses, she won't be able to limit herself to this forum and who and what she is will become obvious to all but the far left. I have faith in the American people, and Hillary's opponents, to make the right decision about her. Her part in using the FBI and IRS to pursue perceived political enemies during her husbands reign is nothing compared to what she will do as leader of the worlds only superpower.

We Americans are either a

We Americans are either a very forgiving or a very forgetting nation. Probably both.

Have the Democrats forgotten Cattlegate? The scheme to parlay $1,000 into $100,000?

Whitewater? Travelgate? The cover-up of the deaths of Ron Brown and Vincent Foster?

The abuse of the Internal Revenue Service? Troopergate? Focusing the attention of law enforcement on the bogus threat of the religious right while ignoring the threat of the Islamic-fascist terrorism? Pardongate? Bill’s impeachment? His disbarment? Now the Democrats want to send them back to the White House? Is Hillary the best candidate they can up with? It must be since, according to current polls, she has the best chance of winning the Democratic nomination for President. Since dirty politics, name-calling and mudslinging was part of the last election, you ain’t seen nothing yet!

intheknow: please name one

intheknow: please name one infraction from the above examples/facts that the Bush presidents have been guilty of. They are indeed human and they can neither walk on nor part waters. They are decent and patriotic Americans, neither of which qualities are possessed by the Clintons.
