Inquiry gives recruit to Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson coach Tommy Bowden has grabbed a highly touted recruit from his father's grasp even though it looked like Bobby Bowden had pulled one over on his son on signing day last week.

Receiver Markish Jones will be playing for the Tigers, according to a determination by the National Letter of Intent center in Birmingham, Ala. Jones apparently signed two letters of intent on national signing day: one for Clemson, one for Florida State.

Florida State received its letter first by fax and congratulated itself on winning Jones, the offensive MVP for South Carolina in the annual Shrine Bowl game for seniors.

But Clemson later received a letter and asked that the case be investigated, said Shane Lyons, the associate commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

A videotape of a news conference Jones held and an investigation by the ACC and the National Letter of Intent center showed Jones and his mother signed the Clemson letter first Feb. 7, Lyons said.

"The policy is once all parties sign that agreement, that's it, regardless of whether it was sent," said Lyons, who has never seen a similar case.

As far as the Seminoles are concerned, Jones is playing for Clemson, Florida State football spokesman Elliot Finebloom said.

RUTGERS: Coach Greg Schiano received a four-year extension, the second time in less than two years that the school extended his contract. Schiano is now signed through 2016. His total compensation package will rise from about $1 million to $1.5 million per year.

OKLAHOMA STATE: Cornerbacks coach Tim Beckman left Ohio State to become the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.

stunpjumper you are the most ignorant person on this site and you need to go get a hobby. bobby bowden is probably one of the most respected football coaches and has one of the most strgthened teams in the nation so this team here now the bulldogs i think is the biggest joke of a team because every year i see them play a real team from florida and get stomped all over so look at the stats if your gonna gripe about a team and coach that is far more experienced that this states crappy teams so if you need to see whiny bowden go to a fsu game and see the other coach i guarentee hes doing the whining and bowden is doing the winning
