EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Mae Sarles Treat Wilson, widow of Arnold (Arnie) L. Wilson, Jr. went home to her father on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 after a period of failing health. She died surrounded by many of her family at her Brandon Wilde residence. Mae was born on January 5, 1921 to the late Carlton Eddy Treat and the late Margaret Walcott Kimball Treat in Fitzwilliam, N.H. She spent most of her childhood in New England and graduated high school in Montclair, N.J. She was a 1942 graduate from St. Lawrence University in Clanton, N.Y. She then enlisted in the Women's Army Corp serving in North Africa and Italy, where she met her husband of 40 years, the late Arnold (Arnie) L. Wilson, Jr. They settled in Martinez when Arnie retired from the Army in 1968. Mae then started teaching in the Columbia County School System, teaching second and fourth grades at Grovetown Elementary School. After she retired, she was a Red Cross Volunteer at Eisenhower Medical Center. She was a member of Senior Friends, XYZ and the United Methodist Women. She was devoted to the Martinez United Methodist Church where she was a member of the McDonald Bible Class. She is survived by her sons, David (Janice) Wilson, Rindge, N.H., Terry (Carolyn Sue) Wilson, Grovetown, Peter (Sandra) Wilson, Evans; seven grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2007 at Kings Funeral Home on Davis Rd., Martinez. The celebration of life will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Martinez United Methodist Church with Rev. Perry S. Shelfer officiating. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Bellevue Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Terry Wilson, Jr., Thomas Wilson, Jeffrey Rainer, Danny Harper, Christina Wilson and Melissa Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the McDonald Bible Class. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to your favorite charity. Thomas L. King Funeral Home, 124 Davis Rd., Martinez.
