A goalkeeper who played for the Wildcats, the Augusta Arsenal club team and a state Olympic development team, Plunkett called her new school "the perfect fit.

"This is a really big day. All my hard work is finally paying off," said Plunkett, who also celebrated her 18th birthday. "It's a dream come true, and I'm ready to take the next step forward. It's where I want to go to school, and I received a wonderful offer."

Plunkett said her goal is to win a starting position at the Division II school by the end of her freshman year.

JONES SIGNS: Greenbrier starting tailback Freddie Jones became Columbia County's only football player to sign Wednesday when the senior committed to Tusculum College.

Jones rushed for 1,111 yards last season and averaged 5.3 yards per carry with 10 rushing touchdowns.

Tusculum, located in Greeneville, Tenn., won the South Athletic Conference Championship in 2003.
