Souper weekend

Youthsfrom the Augusta area will collect for the Souper Bowl of Caring this weekend, then designate the proceeds for the agency of their choice.

Vietnamese Mass

The Rev. Martino Nguyen Ba-Thong will celebrate a Mass for the Vietnamese new year at 10 a.m. Sunday in the gymnasium at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic School, 1220 Monte Sano Ave. A reception will follow.

Nightingale songs

The Sensational Nightingales of Durham, N.C. , the Rev. Billy Smith and the Radio Angels of Johnston, S.C., and others will perform at 5 p.m. at Mount Zion AMEZ Church, 1237 Summer St..

Welcome home

Homecoming will open at Paine College with a convocation at 10:15 a.m. Friday in Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel, 1235 Druid Park Ave. Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, and Freddie Jackson will be the headliners at the masked ball to benefit the United Negro College Fund at 7 p.m. Friday at Augusta Marriott Hotel & Suites, 2 10th St.

Faith's soldier

Glenn Thomas, a businessman and the author of God Saw Them Through: Semper Fi - America's Battalion in Iraq, will be the guest speaker for the National Prayer Breakfast at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Gordon Club, Fort Gordon.
