GIBSON, Ga. - Mr. M.P. (Skip) Newsome, 81, of Griffin Street, entered into rest Friday, January 26, 2007 at the Gibson Health & Rehab Center, Gibson. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Seaman officiating. Mr. Newsome was a native of Jefferson County, a member of Stapleton Baptist Church and retired from the Georgia D.O.T. Mr. Newsome will be remembered for his devotion to family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mrs. Mary Ellen Stapleton Newsome; one son, Tony Newsome and his wife, Donna; two daughters, June Snell and Linda Chalker and her husband, Tony, all of Gibson; one brother, Lamar Newsome of Augusta and two sisters, Jeannette Hadden of Blythe and Louise Wells of Alpharetta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Tonya, Michelle, Jasen and Adam and four great-grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, Tyler and Nolan. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence. Memorials may be made to Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in care of Mrs. Elise Milburn, 712 Calhoun St., Gibson, GA 30810. Sheppard Funeral Home, Gibson, GA is in charge of arrangements.
