MARTINEZ, Ga. - Dewell "Red" Keen entered into rest Friday, January 26, 2007 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Juanita Williams Keen and sons: Ed and Bruce Keen. Dewell was born in Dublin, GA to Dewell E. Keen Sr. and Eddie Kight Keen. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served in the Pacific abroad the USS Vestal AR-4 and the USS Kermit Roosevelt AAG-16. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy Reserve with twenty-six years of service. He also retired as a maintenance supervisor for Kimberly Clark Paper Corp. Dewell was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a faithful Georgia Bulldog Fan. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 63, Elks Lodge 205, and longtime member of The Hill Baptist Church where he was a past Deacon and Sunday School teacher for the Sim Folk Class. He is survived by sons: Mark "Chip" Keen, wife, Julie, Tim E. Keen and James W. Keen; one daughter: Cheryl Ruth Champion of Navarro, FL; five grandchildren: Tyler, Nicole, Tim Jr., Russell and Heather: 8 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Madelyn, Brinson, Kaleigh, Conner, Cross, Ashley and Isabella and devoted friend: Ruby Lozier. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007, 11:00 A.M,. at The Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Ruffin officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sim Folk Sunday School Class. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
