Iraq war is morally wrong, simple as that

  • Follow Letters

Regarding the editorial "Through history's lens" (Jan. 18), I don't agree much on what the writer is saying.

This war was created based on bad intelligence. Even with an increased number of troops from the beginning, a lot more soldiers, contractors, reporters and other civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan would have been killed.

According to the Bible, President George W. Bush will reap what he sows. This war is morally wrong.

Mr. Thomas, all war is morally wrong. Unfortunately too many wars are a necessary evil. Your information about the war being based on bad intelligence is based on media created misinformation. To deny there is a world wide jihad by the radical islamist is to be blind to current events. President Bush isn't continuing this war for entertainment purposes. We have a serious problem that needs to be addressed and has needed to be addressed for more then twenty years. While this problem was ingored it grew into the mess we have today. I don't see any alternative to this war. Diplomatic failure since the '70s has left us with little choice. Redeploying, running away or pulling out are all worse then seeing the war through to completion. Instead of condeming, what would you do to improve this situation?

Patricia this is not misinformation, go join the service and put your life in the line of fire. Iraq was never our job to improve in the first place. If its the terrorist we must fight lets go to where their are, we started there then moved to Iraq. I was taught not to lie and to admit when I make a mistake and when I admit it I do feel better even at my old age.

This is and has been a war conducted by the MSM. Collectively the MSM is against GWB and therefore anything he does is negative and will be reported on in a negative light. Because of so many more outlets, today's media is also more influential to the gullible masses. And gullible they are! Always complaining never a viable alternative "Imagine if you will" John Kerry and Al Gore as president during the last six years. A fate too horrible to ponder. David Thomas, with name like yours you should try and get a job at a local Wendy's.

Mgroothand: Speaking of gullible, what are the odds that you are a faithful acolyte of Rush Limbaugh and various Fox talk show hosts? I don't know what MSM represents, but Mr. Bush had the nation including the media of all leanings totally on his side in the initial response against Afghanistan and Al Quaida. Surely you remember "dead or alive". Do you also remember that he claimed he would be a "uniter not a divider". With support for Afghanistan he then launched his Iraq adventure by distorting and misreprenting the intelligence on WMD and Hussein's supposed connection to 9/11. Again the mainstream media and the public largely supported and trusted him. But his mismanagement of the war effort has lengthened the conflict long enough for the media and the public to understand that this was an unnecessary and unjustified war based on false premises. Read carefully: there was no connection between Hussein/Iraq and the 9/11 attack except through the President's carefully chosen insinuations. Mr. Bush has since acknowledged this to be true.

vandes1: If you need to present your arguments by attacking and slandering those who disagree with your suppositions then perhaps you have no real argument or perhaps no ability to express it cogently. No living American will forget 9/11, but most now accept the true fact that Hussein's Iraq had no involvement whatever in the attack.

So Vandes1 do you feel like you are a better person after a personal attack on others? Do personal attacks make you right?
Whatever the reason I feel sorry for you. I do hope you have a safe week and a productive one.
