AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mrs. Maebelle H. Sturdivant, 102, entered into rest on Thursday January 18, 2007 at The Place at Martinez. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 20, 2007 at 3:00 PM, in the Platt's Crawford Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Christie officiating. Interment will follow, at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Mrs. Sturdivant was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She worked as a seamstress for Brickles Cleaners. Mrs. Sturdivant was preceded in death by her husband, the late John C. Sturdivant, her daughter, Ruby Awbrey, three grandchildren, and one great grandchild. Survivors include: a son, Charles C. Sturdivant of Augusta, daughters, Martha Cooper of Augusta, Helen McKenney (Joe) of Augusta, a brother, Clifford Hill (Elizabeth) of Evans, a sister, Agnes Sturdivant of Augusta, 13 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday January 19, 2007 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Platt's Crawford Avenue. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Alan McKenney, Wayne McKenney, Fred Evans, Tom Cooper, David Awbrey, and Tim Freemon. If so desired, memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church 4943 Columbia Rd.
