MILITARY NEWS

- Air Force Airman 1st Class Jibri Johnson, a 2002 graduate of Midland Valley High School and son of Juanita Garnett, of Graniteville, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

- Army Pvt. Jason Johnson, a 2005 graduate of the South Carolina Youth Challenge Program and son of Peggy Johnson, of Aiken, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

- Army Pvt. Geoffrey A. Rivera, a 2006 graduate of Ridgeview Home School in Belvedere, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

- Army Pvt. Ronnie E. Williams II, a 2003 graduate of Aiken High School and son of Ronnie and Lorraine P. Williams, of Aiken, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

- Army Pfc. Bradley Thomas, a 2006 graduate of Aiken High School and son of John and Clara Thomas, of Aiken, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

- Air Force Airman 1st Class Jason R. Cash, a 2005 graduate of Silver Bluff High School and son of Randy and Sandra Cash, of New Ellenton, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

- Army Reserve Pvt. Jermaine A. Gibson, a 2006 graduate of Aiken High School and brother of Jason Porter, of Aiken, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia.

Veterans scholarship

Aiken's branch of the United States Submarine Veterans Inc. Denizens of the Deep has awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Lauren Packard, of Mission Viejo, Calif.

Leadership program

Tracey A. Johnson, son of Roy Johnson, of Aiken, and Judy and Thomas Harden, of Gloverville, has been selected for the Tomorrow's Leader Initiative program at the Defense Contract Management Agency.

Dean's list

Roxanne M. Miller, of Edgefield, S.C., has been named to the dean's list at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton, Ga.
