AIKEN, S.C. - Mr. Milton Gottfried Zurfluh , 100, died Friday, January 5, 2007. Mr. Zurfluh was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, November1, 1906. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, he entered the U.S. Army ans was assigned to Schofield Barracks, Oahu Hawaii, and was present when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, During World War II, he served in the Pacific theater with the Army and the Army Air Corps. In 1963 he retired as a Captain of the U.S. Army after 30 years Service. After retirement, he moved to Aiken with his wife Evelyn Scharf Zurfluh. He was a 50 year member of Abou Saad Shriners Temple. The family said his zest for life and optimistic outlook kept 'Grandpa' striving towards his goal of living to 100. Everyone who knew him thought he was an amazing man. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Z. Miller, Aiken and Dr. Zona (Dotty) Weeks, Camel, IN, Five grandchildren, Kay M. Templeton, Augusta, GA; Diane Maloney, North Augusta, SC; Joey Mellen, Alexandria, VA; Dr. Gregory Weeks, Vienna, Austria; and Amy Kristensen, Noblesville,IN. Four great-grandchildren; John Templeton, Hannah Mellen, Hailey Kristensen, Ian Kristensen, and Abigail Mellen. Interment will be in Pardeeville, Wisconsin. Memorials may be directed to Pardeeville Presbyterian Church, Pardeeville, WI 53954.
