Teeing off - Dane Burkhart

  • Follow Golf

After helping lead USC Aiken to three straight national titles, Burkhart showed immediate professional promise with two wins on the Tarheel Tour. After failing to make it past the second stage of Q-school, he has his sights set on the Hooters Tour, which boasts being America's third largest 72-hole pro tour.

When the Hooters starts in Guatemala in February, it will have been three months since Burkhart teed up competitively.

"Just trying to become a better four-round player and prepare for Q-school next year," said Burkhart, who married his college girlfriend Keila two months ago. "Finish top-5 money list Hooters would be an indication that I've become a better four-round player and been more consistent."

Burkhart also will also try to mix in Monday qualifying for nearby Nationwide and PGA Tour events and hope to play one "just to see the different level of competition and see myself up close and personal with those guys and compare my game to their's."
