Teeing off - Alex Hamilton

Hamilton's play last year on the Tarheel Tour helped him earn exempt status on the Hooters Tour for 2007, and he plans to take full advantage of it.

"I'm a Hooters Tour member," said Hamilton, who won once on the Tarheel Tour and finished 17th on the money list. "I think they have 17 or 18 events and I'll end up playing in 15 or 16 of them."

He will try to Monday qualify for "six or seven" Nationwide Tour events, but only if the tournament is located near that week's Hooters Tour event. That way, if he fails to make the Nationwide field, he can still play in the Hooters event. Both tours play 72-hole tournaments.

"I do believe in Monday qualifying, but you've got to play four rounds a week," Hamilton said. "One round a week won't make it."

Hamilton will still play in "five or six" Tarheel Tour events.
