Henry Bildstein (AUGUSTA, Ga.)



AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Henry "Hank" Bildstein, Jr., age 72, of Augusta, entered into rest on Saturday morning, December 30, 2006 at the Medical College of Georgia. A native of Reading, PA, he had resided in Augusta since 1968. Mr. Bildstein had retired in 1972 from active duty at Fort Gordon as a SFC E-7 after 20 years of service. During his military career, he completed 3 tours in Korea and 2 tours in Vietnam. He was a decorated Paratrooper receiving recognition as an Instructor of the Heavy Drop and Path finder teams and Jumpmaster. After retirement, he maintained his involvement with fellow paratroopers as a Life Member of the 187th Rakkasan Group Florida Chapter; in which he served as Vice President. He was a member of the VFW Post 649, the American Legion Post 178, the Commanders Club of Disabled AmVets and a Silver member of the Paralyzed Veterans Assoc. He had also retired from Columbia Nitrogen as a Chemical Operator in 1990 after another 18 years of employment, had worked at Bobby Jones Ford in New Car sales and had worked time at Wal Mart for 15 years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Bildstein; one son, Henry Bildstein, III, Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Brenda Qualman, Evans, GA; four grandchildren, Robert Scott Qualman, Gabrielle Marie Qualman, Stephanie Ann Qualman, Brandon Charles Qualman; three brothers, Conrad Bildstein, Gayland Griffith, Ralph Griffith, Jr.,; two sisters, Peggy Councilman, Diane Frnaklin and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 from the Chapel of Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 2524 Lumpkin Road, Augusta, GA Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park with Full Military Honors accorded by the Fort.
