HICKORY, N.C. - Catawba snapped Augusta State's four-game winning streak Saturday afternoon with a 92-70 victory over the Jaguars in the second day of the Lenoir-Rhyne/Moretz Classic at Shuford Gymnasium.
The Indians (5-6) held the Jaguars (8-3) to their lowest scoring output of the season and forced a season-high 32 turnovers. The 92 points were the most allowed by Augusta State and the 22-point loss was its largest margin of defeat.
Freshman Ben Madgen led Augusta State with 13 points, the only player in double digits. The team's leading scorer, Tyrekus Bowman, was limited to just eight points because of foul trouble.
Chris Wooldridge led five Catawba players in double figures with 18 points.
Augusta State trailed 54-41 at halftime as both teams shot over 50 percent in the first half. Catawba scored 11 of the first 13 points in the second half and led by as many as 29.
VALDOSTA STATE 74, PAINE WOMEN 45
In Fort Myers, Fla., Valdosta State shot 59.4 percent in the first half to cruise past Paine.
Three Lady Blazers scored in double-digits.
Carley Peterson ended the game with 17 points and four assists, Khaleh Thomas had 12 points with five rebounds and Janelle Collazo had 10 points.
LaShawnda Sanders and Savoyia Barrett each had 11 points for the Lady Lions.

Tre Kelley scored 20 points and former Silver Bluff standout Brandon Wallace added 17 points and 11 rebounds in South Carolina's victory Friday night.
