GET INVOLVED

FOSTER GRANDPARENT, SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAMS: Limited-income people 60 and older are needed to work from 15 to 40 hours a week with special-needs children or adults; (706) 826-4480

RETIRED AND SENIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM: Offers people 55 and older an opportunity to apply their experience to meet critical community needs; pairs volunteers with their choice of organizations; (706) 826-4480

SENIOR WHEELS USA: Power wheelchairs available to seniors and the permanently disabled at no cost if they qualify (people who cannot walk or self-propel in a standard wheelchair); (800) 246-6010

WIDOW/WIDOWER SUPPER: 6:30 p.m. second Tuesdays, Piccadilly, Augusta Mall; 6:30 p.m. second Mondays, Shoney's, Whiskey Road, Aiken; Dutch-treat meal; (706) 729-6021

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1-5 p.m. one Saturday or Sunday a month, Phinizy Swamp Nature Park's visitor center; greet visitors, give out literature; (706) 828-2109

ST. JOSEPH CENTER FOR HOSPICE AND PALLIATIVE CARE

DISCOVERY: 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Pastoral Care Library, St. Joseph Hospital, 2260 Wrightsboro Road; support group for those who have lost a loved one; (706) 729-6021
