People in need of a meal on Christmas Day will have plenty to choose from at the Salvation Army.
True North Church of North Augusta will hold Operation Christmas Feast at the Salvation Army on Greene Street.
Organizers also will deliver meals to people who do not have transportation or who are unable to leave their home.
Diane Koehne, the founder and coordinator of the feast, said volunteers and donations are needed. People interested in helping prepare the meal should arrive at the North Augusta Police Hut at 9 a.m. Sunday, she said.
Volunteers who want to help serve the food should get to the Salvation Army at 8 a.m. Monday.
"On Christmas Eve, we'll need mashed-potatoes, stuffing, green beans, rolls, desserts. We're trying to collect all that," she said.
Mrs. Koehne said volunteers will be at the hut until 3 p.m. Sunday collecting and cooking food as well as collecting toys and clothing.
Last year's event fed about 1,200 people, Mrs. Koehne said. She said she started the feast because it was important to help the community.
"Everybody should at least have a little bit of human contact on Christmas Day. There are a lot people without families or meals," she said. "We will be feeding meals to the shut-ins, elderly, anybody that needs a meal in the CSRA on Christmas Day.
"We will be delivering it to their door or they can come have a meal."
