MARYS, Ga. - Sonya Jo Carver, 47, of St. Marys, died Tuesday, December 19 at her residence after an extended illness. A native of Tupelo, Mississippi, she had resided in Camden County since 1983, and had been employed with Coastal Moving and Storage for 13 years as Office Manager. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23 at 1:00 p.m from Allison Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Pat McCord officiating. Burial to be held at a later date. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorothy Edwards and James Cox. Survivors include 3 sons, John Pope, Jr. and Anthony Pope both of St. Marys and Charles "Bubba" Pope of Kingsland; fiancee', Miachel Bonsall of St. Marys; a sister, Suzanne Rye Hartley of Augusta, SC; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan Gage Pope, Julia Pope, Jordan Pope, Anthony Pope, Jr., James Cameron Moore, Ariel Griffin, Colin Moore, Mercedes Moore, Reece Moore, Ian Moore, Samantha Marples and C.J. Pope. The family requests that Memorial Donations be made to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, Ga. 31525 or the American Brain & Tumor Association in Des Plaines, IL. Allison Memorial Chapel of St. Marys is in charge of arrangements.
