'accepted'

ON DVD

RELEASED: Nov. 14

MPAA RATING: PG-13

MY THOUGHTS: This movie is hilarious. It centers on a guy named Bartleby Gaines (Justin Long), who is too average to get into any college. So as not to disappoint his parents, he sends himself a fake acceptance letter. Knowing his dad will want all the details of this college, Bartleby opens a fake college.

Accepted is a dumb, American Pie sort of funny.

'saw III'

ON DVD

RELEASED: Oct. 27

MPAA RATING: R

MY THOUGHTS: Saw III is different from its predecessors in two major ways: it's gory beyond what's necessary for the plot line, and it's just not as good.

The psychological thrill that kept you riveted in morbid fascination in the first two installments is not there. It's easy to look away from the screen (especially in scenes such as when one character is nearly drowned in chopped up pig intestines.)

Sleeping won't be a problem after seeing this film. Eating, however, could prove to be a challenge.
