Latta, Heels cruise

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Ivory Latta tied her season high with 21 points and No. 2 North Carolina won its 12th in a row to remain undefeated with a 87-48 victory over Coastal Carolina on Monday night.

Latta, who came in as the Tar Heels' top scorer at 14.2 points a game, was on target throughout. She hit 7-of-9 from the field, including two wide-open 3-pointers as North Carolina closed the first half with an 18-1 run.

NO. 6 CONNECTICUT 96, VIRGINIA 60

In Charlottesville, Va., Kalana Greene scored 21 points, including 11 in Connecticut's 25-9 run to open the second half that turned the game into a runaway.

The Huskies (7-0) shot 66 percent by running a virtual passing clinic and layup drill for much of the game. Renee Montgomery added 17 points and nine assists for Connecticut.

MEN

TENNESSEE 79, NO. 15 OKLAHOMA STATE 77

In Nashville, Tenn., Dane Bradshaw scored on a putback with 1.9 seconds left, and Tennessee ended Oklahoma State's perfect start.

Byron Eaton lobbed the ball downcourt, and Mario Boggan caught it and threw up a last shot for Oklahoma State (11-1), but it bounced off the rim as the buzzer sounded.

Oklahoma State came in with its best start since going 13-0 to start the 2001-02 season, but this was the Cowboys' first game in a week because of finals.

The Volunteers (9-2) used their deeper bench and got the Cowboys into foul trouble early in a physical, sloppy game. It worked as they wore down Oklahoma State in the final minutes.
