It seems to me that a newspaper should print the news in an unbiased, factual manner. This newspaper is the most radical and biased right-wing paper, distorting the truth to the point where it becomes vicious and hurtful, not to mention malicious. It stops just short of being libelous.
The Bill Wiliiams campaign in the Superior Court judge's race not once questioned David Roper's character, nor did they, as The Augusta Chronicle so preposterously suggested, belittle Roper's humanitarian efforts. Experience in the law and the courtroom were the main factors, but your paper distorted that to the point where even that sounded negative.
You painted Bill Williams to be a mudslinger from the beginning, and David Roper as a saint. He could well afford to take the high road and be quiet on the campaign. The Chronicle's editorial page and radio talk show host Austin Rhodes, on a daily basis, did the dirty work for him by smearing Bill Williams. And you call that character! Unfortunately, there are enough uninformed people out there that believed your garbage journalism.
Bill Williams has more honesty, decency and character in his little finger than Judge-elect Roper, Austin Rhodes and Editorial page Editor Michael Ryan ever had or will have in their lifetimes. Your editorial page is just a cheap imitation of the National Enquirer. And they would know!
