President reports $10,000 Skyfest profit

WHAT WAS DISCUSSED: Officials from the General Aviation Commission learned during Monday's meeting at Daniel Field that Boshears Skyfest 2006 made a profit of more than $10,000.

Steve Gay, the president of Augusta Aviation, told the commissioners that 2006 was a "pivotal year" for the event, which tends to operate at a deficit. Mr. Gay said the money would be used for next year's air show.

Commissioner Locke McKnight updated the commission on the progress of the plan to build a new terminal at Daniel Field. W.K. Dixon, the airport's consulting and engineering firm, completed some preliminary sketches of possible locations for the new terminal. Mr. McKnight said a plan for the project would be completed in the next two to five months.
